History of NhNUSA tranistioning into a Social Franchise
Founded by John R. Fugazzie on January 27, 2011 in the River Edge NJ Public Library.
Operated as a New Jersey nonprofit - Neighbors-helping-Neighbors USA, Inc. established as a 501 (c)(3)
from May 24, 2012- December 28,2017.
On December 28, 2017 the Board voted to disolve nonprofit to allow the organization to continue under founder John R. Fugazzie to grow and form partnerships necessary for the organization's growth and expansion.
The Board Members of NhN held a meeting on December 28, 2017 at 9am to vote to close down the non-profit Neighbors-helping-Neighbors USA Inc. as a legal non-profit.
Board Statement after meeting:
" Neighbors-helping-Neighbors is changing its path to the future driven by the strength of its volunteerism and the networks created by successful employment outcomes,
On December 28, 2017, NhN Board Members voted to close NhN as a non-profit organization and continue to support NhN’s growing job search mission through NhN’s unique meeting model and outreach across local, regional and national locales.
Board Members both past and present will remain as Advisors to NhN. Media and branding will continue as created by founder John R. Fugazzie. So importantly in this way, our commitment to helping “neighbors” attain positive employment across the many, many communities that NhN has reached will thrive and grow even stronger. "
John R. Fugazzie's Founders statement about future direction of organization:
“The organization will continue in a different legal structure which will be determined by the Founder John R. Fugazzie and the operating of free weekly meetings will continue as it has always been led by local volunteers who are training in the NhNUSA program by its founder John R. Fugazzie to insure the continuation of the incredible successful support and networking meetings that are international known and respected.”
The Non-Profit board will be replaced by a board of advisors made up of key individuals who helped the growth of NhN over the past 7 years and will now provide advice and guidance to the founder in the continuation of our free weekly meetings groups.
The original vision of becoming a funded Nonprofit did not completely fit with the goals and culture of the organzation, as all of the leaders and members are volunteers and participating in NhN as a community service. They competition for funding also potentially put NhN in a postion to limit the types of partnerships we could develop to expand the capacity of helping others across the country and internationally.
We did not pursue significant funding for Neighbors-helping-Neighbors USA Inc. as our original plan was to fund this organization as a non-profit. Over the past 7 years most of the costs of the organization has been funded by me and the concept has continued to expand and evolve, I have been evaluatating all the possible organizational structures to provide maximum reach and benefits to the organization, its members, and potential partners and my vision as to the proper leagal structure for this organization to be able to move into the future.
