Founded in River Edge, NJ on January 27 2011, by John R. Fugazzie Neighbors-helping-Neighbors has fostered a “ pay it forward ” culture, holding a weekly meeting program that delivers accountability and a strong volunteer organizational culture.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors was started in 2003 as a small a volunteer organization seeking to promote independence and sustainability in the lives of people in Teton County, Montana who live on limited incomes. Our founders were each contributing in small and large ways to help our neighbors and we felt that others would offer help if they knew the issues of poverty and had a way to respond.
Through the Northwest Area Community Foundation Horizons program that works to reduce poverty in rural areas, the Choteau community in 2009 sought methods to connect low-income residents with resources. NHN was recognized as serving this need and as having potential for expansion. It was as a result of that project that NHNs grew and ultimately received IRS 501(c)3 nonprofit status in 2009. website

Founded in 1990, Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-certified counseling agency based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, whose mission is to empower low- and moderate-income Brooklyn residents to secure quality housing and build financial assets. NHN is committed to providing the highest quality of service in order to educate and counsel working New Yorkers so they can help themselves; organize people so they can act collectively and help one another; network with other community organizations; and serve as an advocate for an conduit for resources to the communities it serves. NHN achieves this mission through a combination of homeownership and tenant services, as well as organizing and advocacy around local and citywide campaigns that align with a vision of safe, affordable housing in the Brooklyn communities NHN serves.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS United Way of Coastal Fairfield County
The cost of living in Coastal Fairfield County makes it difficult for one in three families to meet their financial obligations and save for the future. Not having enough food, or losing heat or electricity, makes it difficult to imagine getting through the day. Homelessness creates overwhelming problems such as absenteeism, affecting one’s ability to learn and stay on grade level.We know that anyone can be one crisis away from having their lives change dramatically. United Way supports families’ basic needs as the economy continues to be challenging and more families are suffering losses. Neighbors Helping Neighbors represents the work of UWCFC that helps break down the barriers of poverty so that we change the odds for children and their families. |

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS
Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a group of Vanderbilt volunteers who are available to help their neighbors during a time of need. We offer assistance with transportation to appointments, visitations when someone is needed to check-in, shopping or errands, pet walking and more. We have an extensive inventory of medical devices to loan as well. We also have volunteers who can provide a meal for our neighbors who may not feel up to preparing something to eat. Neighbors Helping Neighbors has also started a baby items swap program for all the visiting grandbabies. We are a volunteer group of members whose purpose is to provide assurance, comfort and support to the residents of VCC who are in need of assistance. |
