The Dog Park @ Van Saun ParkOpened in Paramus NJ Sept 24, 2013RIP Kayla 5/28/2019
October 27th would have been Kayla's birthday she left us back in 2019.
Tribute to Kayla - Rest In Peace - 10.27.2008 to 5.28.2019 She would have been 15 years old today but unfortunately most Goldens do not make it much past 11-12 years. The Dog Park in Van Saun county park was built for her and her friends. https://lnkd.in/eEFYbFQf I led the effort to get that built and I did it for Kayla. It was opened on Sept 21,2013. Kayla played a key role in helping me through one of the most difficult 7 years in my life. And the least I can do is remember her. https://lnkd.in/eXcxqpD4 the web site and facebook pages for BergenDog.org and The Dog Park at Van Saun lives on for her with thousands of members helping each other with dog issues. Kayla was the inspiration to get the new dog park started and approved to be built at Van Saun County Park in Bergen County Paramus/River Edge.
I was introduced to my first dog park in Morris County at Lewis Morris County Park in Mendham Township. I was out of work and with one almost working car while I drove wife every day out to work in Mendham Township School District. My son Justin was given this great and beautiful dog Kayla at that time for Christmas 2008. |
Kayla and I spend hours together out in the Mendham Twp area doing everything together. I would do laundry, food shop and pick up and drop off wife as she had to go between two schools each day. Once I landed my job in May 2011 we couldn't go anymore and I decided she needed a local dog park. I created the Facebook page March 30 2011 to build interest and connect dog owners. The page built up interested local dog owners pretty quickly. |
(Send me your photos of your dogs you would like posted)
Mayor Sandy Moscaritolo of River Edge and Councilwoman Kathleen Murphy joined me and took on the political effort with all the surrounding local town mayors and councils to get their support and official endorsement to bring this project the County. This was exactly the support that was needed for Van Saun Dog Park to become a reality. Kathleen Murphy also helped with the petition to show the level of interest and support that where was to build a central dog park for Bergen County in Van Saun. It is very exciting to see my idea come to life thanks to a lot of people helping me.
