Long term unemployed meeting with Secretary of Labor Perez in January 2014, which resulted in a line in Presidents 2016 budget for relief of 401k penalties for LTU. $250 million a year was budgeted
I wanted to share this with you b/c it came directly from the LTU roundtable we did with Secretary Perez last January. In the President's fiscal year 2016 budget that he just sent to Congress last week there is a provision to remove the tax penalties for long-term unemployed individuals who make early withdrawals from 401k plans. See page 120 of the budget document, second item from the top:
"Expand penalty-free withdrawals for long-term unemployed" Of course, this only becomes law if Congress passes it, but this is a big win for job clubs, NhN, and "ordinary" citizens being part of the federal policy making process. - Ben Siegel

Subject: Broken links
Hello Mr. Fugazzie,
I received your email regarding broken links on NorthJersey.com. You are correct, these links no longer serve content on our web site. This has to do with a comprehensive relaunch of the web site that occurred in November of 2016, wherein we replaced the underlying software and the hosting environment. The relaunch brought plenty of improvements along with it, including a more mobile-friendly interface, apps for smartphones and lots of video. However, when we relaunched, we could not preserve links hosted by the “old” web site platform, which was essentially turned off when a contract with the previous hosting company ended.
I realize this technical explanation doesn’t make your problem easier to solve, and for that I apologize.
Our site offers a paid Newsbank archive, which you can access by visiting http://nl.newsbank.com/sites/njmnp/. There you can search for and purchase articles going back several decades. However, you’d be purchasing “offline” copies of the stories, not versions that would replace the publicly accessible links you listed below. Those stories are, unfortunately, no longer available as web pages. There are no plans to bring those pages back in the foreseeable future. If you’d like to find out about purchasing a license to reprint / distribute any of the old content, you can inquire with our licensing dept. at the following email address: sales@usatodaysportsimages.com. Someone will get back to you promptly.
Thank you for your interest in our publications, and for taking the time to write us. I hope you’ll continue to find our web site and smart phone apps useful for keeping a beat on all things North Jersey.
All the best,
Sean Oates
